Why can't i edit a openoffice file over samba share


Hello,

i wonder, when i open a openoffice file from a samba share it is not possible to edit/save/ or even open the file. is this some kind of setting or...

Slackware 9.1 gnome 2.6 (client)
server Redhat ES 3.0 (server)
samba version 3.0x

Maybe a permission problem? What permissions are set on that file? Is samba user owner of the file?

i as user am owner of the file, i as user have read write properties..

Just for sure: is the share marked as writable in smb.conf?

hehe, yes, the share is writable, i can copy the file to the local filesystem, edit the file and copy it back to the samba share. but i cannot edit the file directly.. strange..
