I messed up about:config in Firefox.
PS This is the message I get now:

delete the .mozilla folder in your home folder, then re-run firefox.

I don't have a .mozilla folder in my home folder?
Why is it hidden? Says this folder is already in use.

It sounds like you *do* have a copy of Mozilla in your home directory ("home" is the directory in your "$HOME" environment variable).

SUGGESTION:
1. Close all instances of Firefox.

2. Start a terminal window (go to a Linux "command prompt").

3. Type "ps -eaf|grep -i firefox".
Type "kill -9 xxx" (substitute the PID# of any Firefox processes you might find for "xxx").

4. Type "cd", and hit <enter>.
This will take you to your home directory.

5. Type "rm -rf .mozilla"
This will delete your .mozilla folder, and everything inside of it.

PS:
Yes, by definition a Linux file prefixed with "." is a "hidden" file or directory.
