Which version of wine works well on redhat 8
I am using redhat 8 on PIII-933 Mhz machine and wished to install wine on my system.
I manually installed the wine rpm that came with my distro cd (redhat 8-psyche). Code:
rpm -i wine-20020605-2.src.rpm Code:
no key dba4230e Code:
./tools/wineinstall I did exactly and it started checking configurations and proceeded to instal. Some gibberish were running for 15 minutes and the at the end it said 2 errors aborting installation. Can any one tell me ,whether i wrongly installed them or is this the case for all.suggest me a nice version compatible with RedHat 8. |
the latest version should be compatible as well as all other versions, if you give us the last 10 or so lines of output then we can likely better help you to understand the errors, the first one that comes to mind is were you root? though i think wine has scripts to make sure you arent and then asks you to su when it gets to make install, also wine is rather large check that you have plenty of open disk space

Try codeweavers version. I could use it. I remember I had to do an export KERNEL.. but it worked
