Which Editor?

I enjoy constructing my own webpages/sites. But since i have started using Linux full time a friend advised me to start using VIM/VI? Would appreciate any and all advice. Thanks

Vim / Vi for webpage coding?? .......worst idea I've heard all week.

Personally, I like Bluefish. It is not WYSIWYG, but it relieves a lot of the tedium of remembering the syntax.

Sure vim does a good job if you write small html pages or small php scripts or something else small..Emacs does great job too, especially at coffee break when you say it aloud you're using only it. But I'd go for Bluefish too; it isn't as "heavy" as some of the IDE-like software is, but has plenty of features. Maybe not all of them needed, and maybe there are some you miss at times, but mostly it simply fits in the job description.

it's the same with editors as with distributions, there is not 'best x for y', there is just an x that you prefere working with.
for my part i enjoy vim, kate, komodo edit, jedit, and a few more - depending on what is available.

Have a look at quanta before you make a final choice. It is powerful but still text oriented.
