Where to download SSL aware browser
Hi folks,
I am running Firebird and Mozilla as browsers on RH9. When I tred to connect to a bank website, it popup following notice; "You need to use the https protocol (with minimum 128-bit key) via an SSL aware browser in order to access our services" It also provides a link to download SSL aware browser. However I could not find a download for Linux. Kindly advise where can I have "SSL aware browse for Linux" download. Furthermore what does it mean " https protocol (with minimum 128-bit key)" TIA B.R. satimis |
Fire bird supports SSL. tools=>options=>advanced=>security.

Mozilla Thunderbird 0.6.1 ==================== Thanks for your advice. I could not find tools -> options -> advance -> (security ???) Under 'advance' Config proxies to access the Internet SSL Proxy < > port < > What shall I put inside the boxes there TIA B.R. satimis |
Well you only need to specify a proxy if your network is set up with a proxy server between you and the internet (this is probably not the case for you). After you go to Advanced, there should be a security...oh wait, you are using 6.1. I am not sure SSL was fully implemented in .6.1. Upgrade to .7. It is a matter of checking boxes in .7

What you need is a "User Agent Switcher"
This allows you to "spoof" a browser that you don't have, i.e., make the bank server think you're using IE6 or whatever. For info and installation, go to the following web site: http://chrispederick.myacen.com/work...agentswitcher/ |

Mozilla 1.0 on Debian (testing/unstable-3.0) Thanks for your advice. I just installed 'User Agen Switcher' by clicking 'User Agent Switcher for Mozilla' under 'Install'. It went through without problem. After rebooting the PC and restarting Mozilla I could not locate 'User Agen Switcheer' under 'Tools' on the Menu. I tried to install 'User Agent Switcher for Mozilla' again but wast not allowed with following warning popup; Alter The installation of the extension failed. -215 Kindly advise how to fix the problem. Thanks in advance. Happy New Year and B.R. satimis |
