Where does rpm install package

Hi

I run Fedora Core 4 with no problems. I would class myself as a newbie -6 months.

I am trying to install kpackage and found that it is part of kdeadmin. This in turn needed kdebase which needed kdelibs which in turn needed arts.

OK downloaded all these and did a rpm -Uvh on each with no error messages.

But where now is kdeadmin with kpackage? And how do I run kpackage?
And basically how does one know where a rpm package is intalled?

Cheers

John, Melbourne, Australia

Kpackage should appear somewhere in the menu probably under system. To check for where packages are installed, do
Code:
$rpm -ql package
For an uninstalled package do
Code:
$rpm -qlp package.rpm
The list maybe long, so you may have to pipe the output to less.

Thanks for your reply, reddazz.

I don't know what has happened but when I rpm -ql Kpackage or Kdeadmin I am told they are not installed. I'll give the rpm -Uvh command another go!

First identify the correct name of the rpm package.
i.e use the command rpm -qf {path of executable}

for example rpm -qf /usr/bin/kpager returns the rpm name kdebase..........

Then use the command rpm -ql package name(kdebase)
This will retuen the files installed by that rpm.

You need to search for kdeadmin not Kdeadmin.
