Where does it save window manager?

Where does it save your preference of window manager? I'm in Redhat, and went under system tools and "desktop switcher tool". Other than Gnome, the option was something... T and then some #'s. I switched it, just to see what it was like, and now I cannot get into x-windows.
It just says it cannot find the correct files.
Where/what file saves which manager it uses?

Check the dot files(.) in your home directory with the command:

ls -la

It should show all files including hidden files, which is represented by the dot(.) in the names. ie .mozilla, .fluxbox etc.
