Question Where do i install gcc to get apache to work?


I am trying to install Apache 1.3.33, it says it requires gcc, i got gcc but i dont know where to install it to. im not very good with linux systems, im trying to put my web server on it but i cant because i dont know where to install gcc, please tell me where to download it to, and include where to install it to and how to, thank you, and please hurry.

it will be on your distro cd's as will apache. well that's only a probably.. as you 've not even told us what distro of Linux you're using. you're also pretty unlikely to want to be installing apache the way you are. there will be a pre built version of apache on yoru cd's just ready to install and go, with minimal configuration.

I have Fedora Core and when I installed Linux i had everything installed, I got apache 1.3.33 off the internet and when i tried to run the prgram after isntalling it a message came up saying that I needed an ANSI C compiler, such as gcc. So i went to the GUI website and downloaded it, I installed it but must have to the wrong place. I need to know where to install gcc and some step by step instructions would be nice. Thanks.

we can't give you step by step instructions on installing GCC. there are whole books devoted to the particulars of building GCC. but you seem to just have repeated what you posted in the first one, so do you not want to take my advice?? if you can say why you need to install apache from source rather than the rebuilt rpm tailored for your existing system then i'll try and help you learn how! ;-)
