Where do I get rpmbuild.rpm for rh9???

Geetings-
I am trying to install d4x on rh9 and I need to run rpmbuild -
never done this (n0Ob).

Searching around I see where folks have run 'rpm --rebuild' when I try:
rebuild invalid option

also have tried 'rpmbuild --rebuild'
rpmbuild command not found

I read that I may need to install rpmbuild.rpm - dont know if this is true but cant find this via g0Ogle.
Anyone know what I need to do to solve this ?

Thanks much!

not sure what you are asking but the normal means of installing rpms are as follows:

rpm -ivh filename.rpm

or

rpm -Uvh filename.rpm

i general do this from the directory of the rpm so i dont have to put the full path down for the rpm.

-i = install
-U = upgrade

the v = verify
h = status. it will up the ######## % to show you the progress of the install/upgrade of the rpm.

If you are trying to install a source package, you may need to become root first... su - then use this command string:

rpmbuild --rebuild filename.src.rpm
The rpm package is created in /usr/src/redhat/RPMS/i386

Thanks for the reply Lleb_KCir

I think my problem is that the d4x file is .src
hence rpm has to run a build (?)
and the std install of rh9 does not include rpmbuild

'rpm --rebuild' was stated at the d4x website:
http://www.krasu.ru/soft/chuchelo/download.php3

woohoo! found it ...

for anyone interested (i have redhat 9 running gnome):
select-
main menu-->system settings-->add/remove applications
then from the list-under 'development' packages
select development tools-then click update to install.

(after selecting development tools you can view all the tools by clicking 'details'-->standard packages or extra packages)

What I've learned - rpmbuild is included on the redhat 9 install disks, but it is not installed by default.

thanks for replies.
