Question Where can I buy a CD/DVD of Firefox/Thunderbird for Linux?

My internet connection is a dial-up connection. Downloading huge multi-megabyte files is not a reasonable way for me to obtain software. I am interested in the latest versions of Firefox and Thunderbird for my Linux box (CentOS 5.4). I used to be able to order a CD of each program directly from Mozilla, but that option seems to have gone away. Does anyone know of a reliable source of CDs or DVDs of Mozilla software for Linux? The outfit I used to order Linux CDs from seems to have dropped that business.

I don't know of any CDs for sale, but you probably have a Linux users group near you and I'm sure someone from that group would be willing to burn you a CD. Or put the files on a USB stick. Search for a friend with Linux.

You might look for your local Linux Users Group (LUG). Often members of a lug are more than happy to burn you a CD of their favorite toys. As a courtesy you might provide them with the blank CDs.

Welcome to LQ. ______

Isn't there an internet cafe or a public library in Chicago
where you can download software and save it to an USB stick ?
In Europe we have those cafes and libraries in "every" town.

Or if you go to home then pick software it will give you prices in dollars rather than euros.

Do they really on sell 3.0? Or when you order to they ship the latest 3.x? You really do NOT want 3.0 or anything below 3.6.

I checked out both the Mozilla Store and the International Mozilla Store. The Mozilla Store shows only tee shirts and the like, no link to purchasing the software on hard media. The International store only shows links to purchase old versions of Firefox and Thunderbird. I suspect that Mozilla has never created the CDs I am looking for for the current versions. Right now I am running Firefox 3.0.12 (hence my desire to upgrade to 3.6) and Thunderbird 2.0.0.22 (seems to be running pretty well for me).

Some people have suggested asking a LUG member to burn a CD for me. While I would prefer to obtain an "official" distribution disk, I will pursue this option, though my only contact with a LUG has been through email messages and I know none of the people personally.

I used to be in a similar situation about 3 years ago and at that time I used a service that downloaded and burned whatever I specified and mailed the CD to me. That was much cheaper than dial-up.

If you find such a service, and I expect that it must exist where dial-up exists, you can just order fresh packages from your distro repository, including Firefox and Mozilla.
