Arrow when GTK wrecks your day...

...post on LQ.org

Problem: When ./configure gtk-gnutella-0.92.1c

I get:
checking for gtk-config... no
checking for GTK - version >= 1.2.0... no
*** The gtk-config script installed by GTK could not be found
*** If GTK was installed in PREFIX, make sure PREFIX/bin is in
*** your path, or set the GTK_CONFIG environment variable to the
*** full path to gtk-config.
configure: error: Cannot find GTK: Is gtk-config in path?

[root@BASEMENT gtk-gnutella-0.92.1c]# whereis gtk
gtk: /etc/gtk /usr/lib/gtk

[root@BASEMENT gtk-gnutella-0.92.1c]# which gtk
/usr/bin/which: no gtk in (/usr/local/sbin:/usr/local/bin:/sbin:/bin:/usr/sbin:/usr/bin:/usr/X11R6/bin:/root/bin:/root/j2re1.4.2/bin)

Thanks,

Noah (nuuubeeeeeeee)

Try to locate the actual file
it's after ... gtk-config
Then set, as the error message suggests,
the environment variable accoridingly...

Cheers,

Also do not forget if you are on a package managed system
(rpm or deb) that as well as having the GTK libraries package
installed you will also need the GTK development package
installed (which has the headers and usually the gtk-config script).

Also make sure that you have the correct version of GTK
or GTK2 for the libraries and development packages installed!
