Whats the quickest/easiest way to get a printable list of all installed software?

I'm looking for a quick command, one-liner (or two), whatever, to show all the programs I've installed above and beyond the core packages. Something I can print out and refer to, if i wanted to reorganize my menu into something all-encompassing and yet orderly. Something with descriptions?

I use Debian Lenny with KDE on my desktop, and Fluxbox on my laptop.

Thanks, that showed me everything - I can edit out 'core' stuff manually easily enough.
