ANyone have a site with a list?>

or a nicer setup of the same list: http://freshmeat.net/browse/56/?topic_id=56 |
I found this site useful when I was first trying out different window managers:
http://www.plig.org/xwinman/ It's also not a bad idea to just browse the Window Managers section of freshmeat.net: www.freshmeat.net -Andrew |
Here is a very incomplete list of window managers
9wm Aewm Aewm++ Afterstep Amiwm Asclassic BlackBox CTWM CWWM Enlightenment Evilwm FluxBox Flwm Fvwm2 Fvwm95 GWM Icewm Larswm LWM KDE Metacity MWM Olvwm Olwm Phluid PWM Qvwm Sawfish TWM UWM VTWM W9WM Waimea WindowMaker WM2 XFCE ZWM Apologies to anybody whose favorite window manager I have omitted. Can anybody add any missing window managers? |
There is also ION, which is really quite weird. Pekwm, which is really minimalist! SWM, which is also minimalist. Openbox, which, not suprisingly, is just like Black/Fluxbox. MWM is quite like Fvwm2, as far as I can tell.
|
How can I make it so I can automatically switch between window managers instantly in redhat... like I could on Mandrake?
|
Left off ratpoison. There's *nothing* more minimalist than that in X - it's 'screen' for X apps.
|
The site http://www.plig.org/xwinman/ mentioned earlier is one of the more complete window manager sites I know of, and it is the place I look when I want a description of a particular window or desktop manager.
