what will i do when playing an audio and video files?


My disro is slackware 11. What will i type in the console base?i will mount first the cdrom r the ard disk?im using a vmware and a dual boot. please tell me what to do..



in gui of the slackware where will i go?when plying a video an audio files im using here a vm ware.. please rply.. thanks people.. And God bless to this forum. i love it.:-)

play around with it. its not hard to find xine in the gui


One suggestion: get the codec pack from mplayer. Doing so will greatly increase your video codec support.

I play with it and i got through the xine player. in video files i cant play it in the gui,i think i dont have a codec on it. But in audio i mounted the cdrom and play but no sounds. y is that? im using a vm ware.

well, now there are three possibilities.

one is that VMware isnt connected to your sound card

one is that you havent run alsaconf as root

one is that your missing codecs you need, but I doubt that would be an issue with cds




Run alsaconf as root.

make sure the cd and the sound card are both accessible by your virtual machine, and try that again


you can get the codecs here:

or choose another mirror under the CODECS section of this page

As far as what to do with the codecs, see if there is a readme file with instructins, but i just extracted mine to /usr/local/lib/codecs/ and stuff just started to work

I am running slackware 12, so that should work for you, but if not consult the docs.

How to configure basic dns that only ping your local host. Many errors for me. Please reply with me the configuration files such as the named.conf named.root and etc. Slackware distro. Thanks for the replies.
