What to put in to adjust the volume using lineak?

Hi, I am very confused as to what to enter in my lineakd.conf to make it so that I can adjust the volume up and down. At the bottom of the config file there is a "volumeup =" and a "volumedown =" but I have no idea what values to enter. I tried a bunch of stuff that I gathered from the "man" document on lineak but that didn't help and both of the gui programs don't work with me, they both have linking problems or something. I'm using a compaq internet keyboard with 13 keys. I know that the keys work because when I press them while the daemon is up it says "174" or "176" and some other jargon. Any help would be greatly appreciated especially since I've been trying to get all this stuff to work for a for few hours now. Also I'm on a mandrake 10 official distro, in cas ethat helps. Thank you for your time.
