You sure have a unique way of welcoming people. Can I ask why you think it's nuts? It's no nuttier than the many other apps people want ported to linux.

That's a pretty big ask. While Android is based (at its core) on linux, it would take a lot to allow Android apps to run on top of Linux; almost as much as running Windows programs on Wine. However, you can already do it using Virtualbox or VMWare pretty well, and some of the Android X86 projects are producing very nice Android distributions, which are often more suited to non-touch environments.

Wysiwyg html

Agreed! Actually I was very happy with Amaya, but it no longer works, as it relies on obsolete libraries that will no longer load in Ubuntu and derivatives

I would like to know if anyone has any knowledge about Harmony One Remotes. I know that they work with Windows. I would like to see them work with Linux.

Kompozer is old, but BlueGriffon is HTML5 and CSS3; it was updated not so long ago, and a new major version is due out soon apparently. A major overhaul.

Sure there is. There's just nothing in the prosumer range between Blender and Nuke.

As video compositing software goes, Nuke is as real as it gets.

As mentioned, Nuke exists, and in fact most Foundry products are available for Linux. There's a learning curve, but as someone versed in Foundry and not in Adobe, I'd say the same was true for After Effects.

Also, SideFX offers a variety of levels of Houdini for Linux:
http://www.sidefx.com/
from full studio to "indie" packages.

There's an open source Nuke-like application that's quite cool:
Natron http://natron.fr/
and a tutorial: https://opensource.com/life/15/7/get...ed-with-natron

Not that this invalidates your desire for After Effects; this is a wish-thread, after all. Just mentioning some alternatives!

Last edited by notKlaatu; 05-31-2016 at 10:02 PM. Reason: forgot about Houdini, added it.
