You're willing to participate in creating something -- that's admirable. That's not the same as the point being you don't pay for it and you know it so don't come over all "I'm a contributor so there!".
Mind you I might have guessed from the caps that you were trying to troll.

Anyhow, sometimes us adults decide that, since there is no other way to do something other than paying, we will pay to do it. The majority to the time, thankfully, we don't have to but, sometimes we, do.
I think perhaps you also missed my mention of hardware support for Linux. HP, Intel, AMD and others all contribute but others do not. People have mentioned drivers and "helper applications" that they would like to see under Linux also.

Oddly enough there have also been posts suggests open source alternatives to programs which people ask for, which has helped those posting.

But, no, we should close this thread and tell people to just buy M$ and stop whining...

You have somewhat spectacularly missed the entire point of FREE SOFTAWRE!

Please see the FREEDOM link in my signature, or click here.

When we call software “free,” we mean that it respects the users' essential freedoms: the freedom to run it, to study and change it, and to redistribute copies with or without changes. This is a matter of freedom, not price, so think of “free speech,” not “free beer.”

These freedoms are vitally important. They are essential, not just for the individual users' sake, but for society as a whole because they promote social solidarity—that is, sharing and cooperation. They become even more important as our culture and life activities are increasingly digitized. In a world of digital sounds, images, and words, free software becomes increasingly essential for freedom in general.

Please go back and read your previous, silly, post suggesting that the point of Linux is that you don't have to pay for anything.
I won't feed the troll any more than that.

You know that this is supposed to be a forum where people help each other, this is not a silly chat room, please take your silly comments there, this place is for adults.

I take it this doesn't work? There's a suggestion there, too, that you may be able to just throw a PostScript file at it?

I had this Dell printer before I had Linux OS, it worked fine with MS, but MS didn't like my old computer, so I bought a computer with no OS, so I loaded Ubuntu 14.04 OS.
The strange part is that Linux has drivers for HP, that printer works fine, but the Dell MFP will not, no matter how hard I try, and like I said, Dell has no plans to support their printers in Linux OS.

To clarify it is HP who have drivers for Linux and they're good at it. My apologies, I know it's a bit rude to correct.

That is correct, my HP Laserjet 1018 works fine, the Dell C1765 MFP does not, no drivers will work, and I have the original disc that came with the Dell printer. Ubuntu OS will not accept that Dell software, because when you ask Dell they will tell you the software is good for Windows 7, XP, and all MS OS and not Linux OS.

As I mentioned, I think that's because Dell have negotiated the best price for Windows. It seems to be their policy to feign interest in Linux now and again when it comes to contract renegotiation time. HP, on the other hand, (and Brother and Xerox, et al) are printer manufactures so are out there to sell boxes to anyone they can reach.
I take it the page I linked to above was no help?

Excuse me...for my English grammar that wasn't as correct as yours, but I think you originally got the point, I will also forgive you for ignoring the temptation for being critical.

I am glad you did not take offence -- absolutely none was meant, nor any criticism. I just thought it worth emphasizing that it is HP who provided the drivers in this case as it's a good thing for them to do.

What problems have you had? I've installed several and they all just worked.
