kidding aside, I have been running and using MS office 2003 quite well through wine;
except I could not associate the MS mime types to open with it.
So I had to open the app first then show it to the file to be opened.
I don know how well newer MS Office would go via wine.
Try it out and see how you go.
Notepad++, even though it might be unlikely. I think someone said that it uses some very Windows-specific routines so it would be difficult to port it to Linux.
Also, 7-zip with comprehensive support for different file managers would be nice.
I would like to have an agenda program with triggers. The program should work locally and offline and interface to my smartphone.
By triggers, I could ask to be reminded x days in advance or even x minutes in advance of the agenda'd item
SPSS .. It's a program for statistical analysis... though many things can be done in OpenOffice.org I haven't found any specific statistics program for linux that's interoperable with SPSS (university requirement)
so yes, SPSS would be on the top of my list
Look at R
It should do all that spss does and some
I would like to see a Agenda/Task program that allows me to post appointments or reminders. The program is minimized until the icon for it is clicked.
If a time is about due, it should popup on the screen with a message reminder. It could also email me with the reminder. I would like to setup automatic reminders for 3,2,1 days before, and then 30 minutes before.
If I do not acknowledge a reminder, it will continue to popup. I should be able to issue a sleep to the reminder (suppose meeting is delayed 30 minutes, would just want it to sleep 30)
Also some automatic reminders example, (12:30, time to walk the dog)

1. Notepad++ runs flawlessly in Wine, at least for what I've used it for.
