I've found Linux programs for most of my needs thus far. About the only thing I'm missing is a really good genealogy program. After "Reunion for Mac", I've just not seen anything that covers my needs.
Also, I'd like to see a program that lets me set up a budget _my_ way (read: not Quicken) and then connect to my PDA and exchange banking transactions.
The only other thing I'm missing are games---I'll have to go over to the games thread to share my list at some point.
Nothing beats DW for quickly producing drafts for approval of concepts, etc
[*]Paint Shop Pro
Gimp can probably do it all, but I know PSP so well I rarely have to think about the process and I can concentrate on getting the image right
[*]Canon printer drivers
Good printers. If only there were more drivers

Not "out of the box", I tried. It does have a MP3 decoder placeholder though.
...as far as the Canon printers, you might be able to go to www.canon.com or something and nab a few drivers for your model. I bet they're making Linux drivers.

I haven't bought either Turbotax or quicken in several years since I'm trying not to buy anything more for my win2k box. I do love Nero. I have k3b on my RH 9 box, but I haven't actually sat down and tried it out yet.
I have dumped MS office, IE and OE on my win2k box and am now using OOo 1.1, Moz firebird and Tbird email, so I am going in the right direction. But I can't really dump my winbox yet since what if I decide to start using quicken again or decide I want to do my tax return on turbotax sometime. And I haven't ever figured out CD burning in linux yet, although like I said I haven't tried k3b yet.
Last time I tried CD burning was maybe 2 years ago with CD Bake Oven I think (and I sucessfully burned a data CD, but unfortunately I wanted an audio CD...)
Dreamweaver MX and Paint Shop Pro The two programs I use
quite often and would love to see them ported. However I can
get both to work with Win4lin. Problem is the 128MB ram limit
with win4lin though..
On your CD burning, I've had a lot of luck with X-CD Roast, though it will only copy-on-the-fly data CD's. ...though I have copied a Disturbed CD a couple times (audio CD) using it. M$ Office can be dumped by using Sun StarOffice or OpenOffice. ...as far as Quicken and TurboTax, you have a point there. We're getting a common theme with those two.

my wish list.....
a SAPGui that works! (if anyone has made the f***ing SAP java gui work, please help!)
Dragon Naturally speaking (a lovely piece of work)
..and better driver/manufacturer support - laptops, sound cards, modems, etc
I really need the SAPGui - I can live without sound or a functioning modem.
And hardware support will drive application support.
What really delights me is the competence of current Linux distros - most just work on most hardware without fuss. This comes from an ASUS S5200N laptop a I bought a week ago. I can't sort modem and soundcard isues, the ACPI took a day or so, but the rest just worked! External USB CD burner, USB storage, wireless mouse, just lovely!
I did notice that Mandrake 9 was a WHOLE lot better than Mandrake 7.2, but 9 still had its Terrorist aspects to it (compared to RedHat!). ...though I would like to see Linux ports to many of these games that are out vs. having to run them in WINe to get software 3D support.
