Itunes: Gpodder, gtkpod (without the bloat and spyware)
You can probably mount the ipod too depending on the fs it has.

utorrent: Transmission, Vuse, rtorrent, Deluge etc....

All Windows PC games: Yup windows has those.

Why this specific Torrent package? The various Linux flavors have many many very good Torrent clients!

Ubuntu installs Transmission as default, but there must be a dozen others that you can use.

Is there some unique feature that I am missing here?

The problem here is legal/moral not technical - there are many pirated versions of ITunes around, they do not work on Linux because Apple owns the rights!

I won't comment of the piracy possibilities nor the IP/creator rights mess here though.

Email me if you want a LONG rant - I am a retired IP attorney who is utterly disgusted at the perversion of IP that exists today.

I can't even think of a gross enough analogy. Sigh.

Lightbulb basic general constants, weights, measures, and basic formulae

I have every calculate program on my Ubu-Mav-29. I also have ConvertAll which is pretty useless. It took me hours to find out what a simple cubic foot and a gallon of water weighed! After much wasted effort I finally tripped over Martindale's Calculators Online.

What really irks me is that I don't recall all the stuff I learned through the years. And if it is available in a prog its MS based. (I have had nothing but failure trying to use WINE.)

Thanks for the opportunity to post,
walt

I would be prepared to pay the standard Windows price for a fully featured video editing program such as Cyberlink Power Director or equivalent.
At present I use Mandriva, but would happily use Ubuntu also.

There are some really nice and fully fledged video editors for Linux, like Cinelerra, KDEnlive, Kino or Blender.

Windows ports

If you absolutely have to have Windows programs, run them in a VirtualBox Windows desktop. You just need to have a copy of Windows and the program that you want to run. As the previous poster said, though, there are a number of programs to edit video from really simple to really complex.

I would like to see Pro Tools ported to Linux. Steam would also be nice, then I can finally ditch Windows.

Virtual machines have LIMITED RESOURCES, really limited, so if you try to edit HD video on a Virtual Machine guess what??? it will crash...

Why should it crash? if your host machine is slow or you assign to few resources to the VM it will run slow, but why should it crash?
If I assign 4 cores and 4GB RAM to a VM it will run almost as fast as a real machine with this specs, so how is that "really limited"?
