Many organisations (including governmental ones) are moving to open document formats so interoperability should be moving in the right direction.

Add: you may have to trigger sound separately?

Fotobounce, it does not work for me in WINE. I would love to be able to compare genealogical photos across generations. I will keep try to get it to work in WINE, if you have any suggestion they will be appreciated.

What program in Linux does face recognition?

jamison20000e 08-02-2016 09:22 PM

The GIMP for one. http://registry.gimp.org/node/24397

No, I guess, that someone behind (rather) Simon or (unlikely) Garfunkel had urged the Joe Cartoon Team to remove the melody, also from the original flash movie... It is back in the latter, as far as I remember, here it is: Donkey Bong, though removed from the Joe Cartoon Web-Site.

Visio would be my top choice.

Visio

What I would like to see ported to Linux Mint

I would love to see drivers ported to Linux Mint that would support all MS supported printers, for some reason unknown to me most of the printers I have tried are supported by Microsoft 7, XP, Vista, and other MS OS, but do not work on Linux, and if some do they will ONLY print, the Linux driver won't scan, copy, or fax FROM THE LINUX OS COMPUTER. There are no Linux drivers that support scanning from the scanner to the computer, that you might want to save on a hard drive in the Linux OS computer, these drivers do not exist in Linux. These Linux developers need to get cracking on this problem, it's really needed, and what I would want to see ported to Linux Mint OS.

I could scan in Linux from my old HP printer (HP Photosmart C4580), and I can do so from my current Epson printer (Epson XP-432). They're the only two printers I've used with my Linux system, but so far a 100% success rate.

If you have a problem with a specific printer, then you should start a thread regarding the problem. There could well be a solution for that printer.

Thanks for the reply hydrurga, but I have tried so many printers (Like Dell, HP, Epson) and used wine with the installation disc they send with the printer, but it's no use, the disc doesn't work because it's not recognized by Linux Mint OS, it just not compatible, so I wind up sending the printer back to where I bought it.
What I want these all in one printers to do is exactly what they were designed to do in Microsoft, but they were designed for Microsoft and not Linux/Unix, that's the problem.
Some of these new printers may list Linux at the very end where they list operating systems, but it doesn't tell you the machine will only print, it won't accept commands to scan, copy, or fax from the computer, or scan from the machine, and save to a hard drive in the Linux computer, because their drivers are made for Microsoft, their drivers are not recognized in Linux/Unix OS which is necessary in a office environment.

No wonder you haven't had any success. You shouldn't be running the installation Windows disk under Wine. You need proper Linux printer drivers, not Windows drivers. For example, HP supply hplip (http://hplipopensource.com/hplip-web/index.html), while Epson also provide Linux drivers (enter Linux as the operating system in http://download.ebz.epson.net/dsc/se...h/searchModule). These will probably not be available on the installation disk, but they will be available online.
