What program to list all installed packages in a text file and compare 2 lists

I need to get names of all installed packages in 2 machines and save them in 2 text files, then I want to compare these 2 files to know the differences between 2 files and from that I could know the differences between 2 machines.

Is it possible to do that and what program I could use?

Thank you!

Is this Debian or a Debian-based system, or a RedHat-based distro ?????

Assuming Debian/Ubuntu like your profile says:

dpkg --get-selections | grep "[^e]install" > /tmp/pkgs.txt
or, for more details:
dpkg -l | grep ^ii > /tmp/pkgdetail.txt
Run one of those on both. Then transfer one of the files over and use "diff file1 file2" to compare the two files.
