What is wrong With Nautilus? (keeps crashing)

I have Slack 9.1 and Gnome 2.4 as window manager.

My problem is that the Nautilus File Manager keeps crashing on me usually when I open Nautilus, make a change to a directory (i.e. adding/removing files), and refresh. Nautilus then gives me a segfault or something, reopens, and is fine.

I've looked at my kernel logs and ran Nautilus from a terminal several times but I've got no clues.

Any ideas why?

Well, this was happening to me on freebsd. To fix it, I recompiled gnome and gnome-utils and other gnome related packages, and that worked for me. The problem is, doing this on linux wouldn't be so easy. I'm not sure of any other way to help out here, I'll do a little research on itand see if I can get something.

Thanks, but if I'm going to go to that much trouble, I think I'll get a friend with DSL to download Dropline Gnome 2.6 and see if that helps.
