Ubuntu

Ubuntu is the friendlest distro, yet still is very powerful, and configurable for your needs. Most people tend to stay away from distros like Ubuntu , and favor distros like Debian, or Slackware. You can always move to those later.

SuSE is also a distro I found very friendly...

If you'd really like to learn, it will cost you some time, try Slackware or Gentoo later on...

I would recommend Mandriva. Here are my reasons:
- Very user-friendly, thanks to the control center, the so-called "drak-tools" (all open source), and the many things that are configured properly from the start.
- Excellent friendly users-managed community on http://www.mandrivausers.org/ that has been growing since at least 1999.
- Many software packages, on many repositories, the configuration of which is easy thanks to the http://www.mandrivausers.org/easyurpmi/index.php service.
- Focus on security, with the "msec" tool, and security updates.

Yves.

Sorry

I tried e-mailing it and I got a return saying your mailbox was full. Can you not just right click it and "Save Links As"?
