What is the function of the canna server in xinetd.d?

Hello,

I am trying to cleanup any services I do not need for security reasons. There is a server activated by the xinetd super server at startup called canna. I did a google(linux, canna) and got a bunch of pages in foreign languages but no help. I suspect the server does character set translation for this reason but I want to confirm.

You are correct.

It works as a character translation server so that your Korean (I think canna is the Korean server? Someone can correct me if I'm wrong...) friends can ssh (or something similar) onto your system, and communicate natively there using their own character set.

Unless you routinely have Korean people logging in, go ahead and remove it.
