What is a good distro for beginners?


Im just getting started in the linux world, and was wondering about some help on which distro is good for me? Would be very grateful for any help in this matter.

Knoppix will let you play around with a fully functional Linux environment without permanently installing anything on your system. A good choice for getting your feet wet.

it depends on how fast you want to learn. generally i guess mandrake is recommended as one of the easiest distros for beginners. search the forums -- there's a ton of threads about which distro to use.
