Got it!
I forgot I had a USB HDD plugged in, and was trying to dd that!
Wondered why my CD drive was so quiet (and fast!)
This looks better:
Code:
root@vaio:~# mount
/dev/sda6 on / type ext3 (rw,relatime,errors=remount-ro)
proc on /proc type proc (rw,noexec, nosuid, nodev)
/sys on /sys type sysfs (rw,noexec,nosuid,nodev)
varrun on /var/run type tmpfs (rw,noexec,nosuid,nodev,mode=0755)
varlock on /var/lock type tmpfs (rw,noexec,nosuid,nodev,mode=1777)
udev on /dev type tmpfs (rw,mode=0755)
devshm on /dev/shm type tmpfs (rw)
devpts on /dev/pts type devpts (rw,gid=5,mode=620)
lrm on /lib/modules/2.6.24-19-generic/volatile type tmpfs (rw)
securityfs on /sys/kernel/security type securityfs (rw)
/dev/scd0 on /media/cdrom0 type iso9660 (ro,nosuid,nodev,utf8,user=tred)
root@vaio:~# dd if=/dev/scd0 of=/home/tred/kubuntuCD.iso
[Wait a while]
1428284+0 records in
1428284+0 records out
731281408 bytes (731 MB) copied, 270.514 s, 2.7 MB/s
root@vaio:~# mount -t iso9660 -o loop /home/tred/kubuntuCD.iso /mnt/test
[It is there]
root@vaio:~# unmount /mnt/test
Please try again. Apologies for my stupid confusion

I got it working with dd. It was the fact that I was using the mount point and not the actual dev address /dev/scd0.

Thanks all!
