Mozilla and Firefox are both based off of the Gecko which came from Netscape's source code. While Mozilla is more of a suite with IRC and mail-checking software, Firefox is strictly a browser with nearly all of the same options. Konqueror is a decent browser, not very popular, but capable. I recommend trying all three to find what is best for you.
Mozilla and Mozilla Firefox share the same HTML rendering engine (Gecko); Konqueror uses an engine co-developed with Apple (Safari) - so under the skin, they're different.. I've found that most of the time, page rendering is fine in any of the browsers, but Konqueror can occasionally be caught out. and none of them can help if a (stupid) web developer has designed a site solely for MS Internet Explorer...
Firefox is a terrific browser though - it's all I use; I think Mandrake 10.1 ships with v. 1.0 - have a look on your CD's..

Is konqueror safe to use for web browsing? I normally use Firefox, but I never hear of any updates or anything interesting about Konqueror so I'm always hesitant to use it for internet browsing. But for local browsing on the computer, it rocks!
I use Mozilla for my web browsing only because I am used to it and have been using it in windows as well for awhile.
I would have to say that Konqueror is a very capable browser and may just as well be safer because it is not exploited as much as the popular browsers.
Konqueror is also a great file manager. I also use it for all my FTP xfrs, and the image gallery creator is terrific and easy to use.
pfft! firefox an mozzilla nad konqueror = teh suk! windoze pwnz u! inetrnet explorer rox!!1!11!!!1one
*shifty eyes* I use firefox, and I like it. I haven't used Mozilla, and haven't used Konquerer for internet browsing very much, but it seems like a decent browser.
Konqueror uses the KHTML engine, which is also used for the Safari browser on OS X. I browse with Firefox whether I am using Linux or Windows.
I have Konqueror as my default browser, so that I can use web shortcuts in the 'Application Launcher'. Konqueror is the File Manager for KDE.
When you open the Home icon on the task bar, what gets executed is: 'kfmclient openProfile filemanagement'
