currently i'm running fluxbox 0.9.9 (mostly for a borderless aterm), but the slit is giving me some trouble. it works just fine, but the slit app order is not as i would like it. recent versions of flux offer a "cycle up" and "cycle down" option for slitapps, but when i try that, the slit i am trying to move simply disappears. so i looked for my slitlist file in ~/.fluxbox and it wasn't there. i created it. it's:
this is the order in which i'd like my slitapps to load. in .xinitrc, i have them load in that order as well (though as i understand it, order doesn't matter in .xinitrc, it just loads the apps). .xinitrc is:
You may need to close fluxbox and edit your slitlist from terminal or another window manager.
I just updated to 0.9.9, and this is the first time my dockapps are actually in the same order as they appear in the slitlist.
actually, i've tried closing fluxbox and editing from terminal, still no dice. i guess maybe i wasn't clear in my first post. i went looking for slitlist in ~/.fluxbox but it didn't exist. i created a slitlist file in mcedit and these are the contents thereof:
that is the file, the whole file. maybe i am not formatting it properly? it didn't exist until i made it, but yes, that is the order i want them to load.
Ok then ....try this:
1) Make an empty slitlist.
2) Remove or comment all dock apps from your startup script (e.g. xinitrc).
3) Start Fluxbox.
4) Load each dockapp manually, in the order you'd like them to appear in the list.
Okay, now I've got a dumb question. How do I make aterm borderless? I want aterm to boot up with "-e tail -f /var/log/syslog" and have it be transparent. Then, each Aterm thereafter I want to have a border (aterm from the fluxbox menu). So basically, how do I make aterm borderless once and only once?
instead of launching the borderless aterm with "aterm", use "aterm -name somethingelse". In ~/.fluxbox/apps, you'd put this:
[app] (somethingelse)
[Deco] {NONE}
[end]
