I am trying to configure x and i am having quite a few problems. when i startx the screen it self is really small and grainy etc.. but what i am wondering about is the mouse, it can only travel around the edges and even when its there its very shaky and wont go where i point it. I am wondering if i am configuring it wrong in xf86config when it asks about the mouse i say its a 2 button microsoft compatible which it is. its just an old mouse i got from dell with 2 buttons. and then it asks where is it
the default is /dev/mouse which i have chosen even time but it also gives you the option of specifing a location in the form of (/dev/tty00 <-- example) anyways im wondering if theres a way that i can figure out how to find that location? and if theres an ezier fix that would be great too! thx

need more info, what linux distro? what interface for the mouse, what version of X etc....

thanks for your comments but i just reinstalled the whole thing and it works fine now.
I know that that is not a viable fix for some but it worked for me.
