weird issue with radeon video driver
Arch Linux on Athlon 2400XP---Radeon 7500 graphics
After a full system update, I had some major graphics issues. I found that changing to the generic vesa driver cleared it. With the package manager, I found that the installed package was "xf86-video-ati-git". This looked strange so I searched what was available (in the Arch repos) and found "xf86-video-ati 6.12.192-1", which I promptly installed. Now everything is working fine. What was the Arch update process doing to me??? |
Maybe there is a setting in your Arch package manager enabled that is downloading beta/unstable releases? It looks to me like xf86-video-ati-git would probably be the latest revision in the git repository for that package, regardless of whether it was a stable release or not.

It looks like I might have gotten it from AUR (Arch User Repository), but I have no clue WHY.....Must check logs tonight.
