Ok I have setup my LAMP. I have not added anything to it yet. Apache is still on the default page.
I have the server in a DMZ. If I type my external IP Address in, from my LAN, I will get the default apache web page, however if I type in the same IP from outside the LAN I will not get anything.
Does anyone know what this might be????
No software firewall is enabled, I desabled to see if that's what it was. It is in a DMZ so the router is null.
I called the ISP to see if they were blocking incoming port 80, they were not. I will go over my httpd.conf some more but when I looked at it, it looked fine
Here is the file::::::
[root@localhost conf]# less httpd.conf
#
<Directory "/">
Options FollowSymLinks
AllowOverride None
</Directory>
<Directory "/var/www/html">
Options Indexes Includes FollowSymLinks
from both inside and outside your LAN. Inside your LAN, it should work.
From outside, it may fail to connect if there's an intervening firewall or if
your httpd server isn't listening to the right network interface.
Have you made sure that it's listening to port 80 on the network interface that has your external IP?
Also, can you reach your server in other ways (ie ping) from outside your LAN?
I got to the bottom of it. My ISP ia filtering incoming port 80, It will not be unblocked unless I upgrade to a commercial account. Those b4574rd5!!!!!!!!!
I feel that if I want to host a website with the service I pay for then thats fine!!! Whats even worse about the ""Commercial account"" is... It doesnt even provide any more bandwidth, just uncaps incoming port 80. What a crock huh?
"I called the ISP to see if they were blocking incoming port 80, they were not." I always have luck when i point out that a representative of their company gave me that information, if they were lieing then i hold the company responsible. I got my bandwidth restored to full after using up my 30/month limit
