webmin port 10000 not going through

While installing Redhat 7.2, I didnot install firewalling. Now that I have webmin installed I cannot connect to webmin from a remote machine.

- As a service ipchains and iptables are running
- I have found the ipchains file
- But I can't find the iptables files to allow port 10000 to pass.
- Should I be reinstalling something?
- How do I get the firewall module to work

Any body with any ideas!

I just found out how to turn off ipchains and iptables, I will try it.

But regarding the router port forwarding. As per Webmin tech notes. you should be able to go through port 80 if you follow these directions:

If you just want Webmin to be accessible via an URL subdirectory (like /webmin) on an Apache server without going to the trouble of configuring Apache to run the CGI scripts directly, there is a simpler method that can be used. This is also useful if your system is only accessible on port 80, and you want access to both Webmin and a normal website. The steps to follow are :

Make sure mod_proxy is installed on your Apache webserver.

Add the following directives to the Apache configuration file:
ProxyPass /webmin/ http://localhost:10000/
ProxyPassReverse /webmin/ http://localhost:10000/

Add the lines webprefix=/webmin and webprefixnoredir=1 to /etc/webmin/config.

In /etc/webmin/config, add the line referers=apachehost, where apachehost is the hostname from the URL used to access Webmin via Apache. If the referers line already has some hosts listed, add apachehost to it.

Re-start Apache to apply the configuration.

This happened to me when I first started. There's a file of the allowed IPs. I forget the file sorry but theres an optino that you need to turn on that says something along the lines of allow all IPs
