webcasting from linux web server?

I have a 10 minute DVD that I have been asked to add to a website. I know that the video will need to be converted to mpeg before serving it but after that I am looking for options as to how to serve it.
I know I can have it available for download and have it play with a local media player and I know I can pseudo-stream it through apple quicktime but I read that linux can do webcasting quite easily.
My question is how do I stream an audio/video file over http using a linux web server?

Thanks to all for your assistance,

I use gnump3d to stream mp3 over my home network. I dont think it works with video though. To use it you dont even need to have apache because it runs as a daemon in the port you choose just streaming the files you have. So that would be a good audio solution. Now back to video...
