WEBCAM: Stickam shows black screen when Cheese shows cam

Is it possible to get stickam to work with Linux? I'm running Ubuntu Gutsy Gibbon. I tried something someone suggested on the Ubuntu forum ,but the only problem is my cam is not located at /dev/vid0. How can I check where the cam is located? If you know of a way to get this working I'd appreciate the help.

Thanks.

It should be at /dev/video0
plug in the cam and look at dmesg
sudo dmesg

It's not.

Cheese detects it, but camorama doesn't.

Help please?

Am I stuck with a worthless cam then?

Look at dmesg when you unplug then plug the cam. Here you can see that I removed the module to force it to /dev/Video0
you will need to be root ...

Sorry to bump I'd just really like to get this thing working!

elliott678 02-26-2008 07:07 PM

I had no problem using stickam, I just had to select my camera in Flash and it worked fine.

Glad to here it.

Unfortunately, that doesn't help me much...

Looks like they are working on it. What kernel do you have?
uname -a

Where should I check in on this for it to be available?

comprookie2000 03-06-2008 08:49 PM

I would email the developers.

It's because with linux you are unable to go to settings on their webpage. But you can change the global settings at adobes website :)

Took me a life time to figure it out :) but works like a charm now :)
