ATM I am running Slackware 9.1 (Apache + MySQL) as a test server and a WinXP desktop for designing webpages (using Dreamweaver, Flash, Fireworks, etc) and am wondering if there is anything close to Dreamweaver etc on Linux so I can change my desktop back to Slackware. Quanta is what I first used but then got sick of dual booting to Windows to produce Flash movies/animations and use fireworks, I found Quanta inferior to Dreamweaver anyway. I don't know if Wine/X supports Dreamweaver but if thats the only way to use a good WYSIWG I think I will stay with Windows.

There really isn't anything close to what Dreamweaver does in Windows but you can check out www.frankscorner.org as there is a great tutorial on how to get Dreamweaver to run using wine.

I am far from a web-developer but I am pretty sure you are screwed for WYSIWYG type clients for linux. I think OpenOffice may support this, but as far as DW and Flash and Fireworks caliber...I doubt it at this point. Others will tell you to install crossover office or wine or some such...but I don't dig those products so I would suggest the continued dual boot scenario.

Dreamweaver should be ported to linux
 

Macromedia should create a Linux version. That is it :( There is nothing to match it in Linux.

An alternative to duel booting would be to run VM ware, alowing you to effectively run two OS's at once. It's a comercial product and I've never used it. It looks like it's worth checking out though.
