Wavrecord and arecord not recording
 

I replaced my old yamaha (opl3sa2 based) card with an sb 128 (ens 1371 based 4.1 card).
After kernel updating, everything seemed to work perfectly.

However, now I tried to record some music from line input into wav with wavrecord and arecord, too, and nothing wav recorded (the wav file grows, but it seems that there is nothing but silence in it).

Line input is OK, because I hear the sound playing; but it is never recorded.
I wonder what is wrong? Is there something tricky when recording from 4.1 cards?
Sound recording worked like a charm when had my old (stereo) yamaha card!

Have you check the line in for recording/capture in the mixer?

I used the same settings as with the yamaha before.
So, I checked Line for recording; but no success.
Later I also tried checking Master for recording, but that did not help, either.

are you using record tool?
if are tray pass -c to program.

$ record -c

and the program not return any thing,
but are reconding.

My problem has been solved in the meantime:
I realized that the default setting of the 'input gain' control in kmix was too low, therefore though the sound was recorded, it's volume was so low that it was not audible.

It took me long to realize this, since one just could not expect that a control that does not affect playback volume will affect recording volume. Moreover, one just could not expect that the default position of that control is to completely mute the line input... These are foolish features from kmix, being there just to cause you unexpected problems.
