Ok, this may seem a dumb question to someone who has been doing linux audio stuff more than I.
I have a monophonic wav file for a song. I have the tone that is used repeatedly, also in a wav file.
I need to convert the song into a midi file so I can get it on a phone as a ringtone by Christmas.
I am trying to use midingsolo, which can detect the notes without a tone file. Excellent, right? Well, it won't do all I need, because it can't export a .mid file!!! I think it just gives the events to the sequencer. Is there any way I can turn this sequencer input into a file, or do I need a different program? If so, what? I have looked at fanr, and I don't think that is suitable. (by Giles Degottex also, I don't think it'd be much different than miningsolo! I also can't seem to install it right...)
Have you considered trying WaoN? WaoN is a Wave-to-Notes transcriber you can get from sf.net. There is also a program called wave2mid that you can get from sf.net. I would give those a shot.
