wanting to know which linux os is the easiest to load for a new comer with 64 meg ram
 
brought a computer with 64 megs ram and am wanting to play around with linux but am having trouble find out which linux will run on this computer as well as be easy for me to install

Mandrake with Gnome would prolly work OK. KDE would run but it would be using swap a lot which will slow it down a good bit.

Would make a good file server though. It's a thought. Don't need a GUI for a server.

Make swap about 200 to 300MBs at least but no more than 600MBs. Others have their ways of figuring swap but I try to compute how much total memory is needed and use swap to make up the difference.

Perhaps you ought to just try booting a knoppix CD to see if you can live with the performance before you spend much time repartitoning and formatting your hard disk.
