Apply maintenance; the sound card detection on that machine was (according to Google) corrected in later updates. As root:
yum -y update

::Thanks::
Thanks for your answer,but I have another question,it's not better to install linux suse10.2 instead of fedora core5?
Please help me to understand the advantages of linux suse or fedora,which of them is better to work with them.
Good luck.

It would be better to install FC6, if you are going to go with a current release. In three months, Fedora 7 will be available.
SuSE and FC6 are similar in many regards, but their focus is different.
Fedora is focused on security, and being a leading edge distribution. That means that Fedora has the latest available software. However Fedora is also a purist when it comes to free and freely licensed software. The release lifetime is short, about 9 months to each new release.
OpenSuSE is a longer lived distribution, focused on stability and attention to detail. They are more relaxed about software licenses.
If you have the opportunity, try both and see which you like.
