wanted: liveCD with automatic sshd

Hi,

I'm looking for a live-CD which will AUTOMATICALLY start sshd.
The idea is: I put that CD in a connected machine; it does DHCP, bring the network(s) up (set the root password to something static), start sshd;
then I can do whatever I want from my computer.

The reason for this is: some computers (acting like servers, but it's like a Pentium2 so I don't like to call that 'servers') are in hard-to-reach locations, without screen/keyb; using this approach will save me lots of time, since attaching screen/keyb isn't easy.

Does this exist? is it hard to make? References? HowTo's?

afaik knoppix (and maybe other live-systems) !have sshd on by default. i can be wrong about that since i never used one of these. the problem is 'bout the password if there even is one!
it may be better to edit some of the configuration files on such distros and reburn the live image to an new bootable cd - but that will be hard to do if you're not exercised in doing something like that. you may also take a look at the pocket linux / linux from scratch-howto. You'll find lot of infos there.

look if there is a way to enable it. maybe with some configuration on a floppy drive or a small partition on a harddisk. i'm not much help here.. don't know how that can be done.

the thing you can do is to change certain things in the cd image. as knoppix is based on debian i think you have to remove a file /etc/ssh/sshd_not_to_be_run or something like that. if you change the image you'll also want to include passwords ;-).

If I remember correctly Dyne has SSHD already started, I am pretty sure it does, give me a little while to check, I have the disk somewhere.
