Want to refresh Samba shares automatically after Windows reboot

Hello all,

When I reboot a Windows PC on my network, the shares from Linux to that Windows PC (setup as mount points and networked via Samba as shares) do not work anymore; I need to first reboot Linux.

I suspect there is a solution for Samba/Linux (FC2) to refresh automatically to pick up the shares but cannot find the solution.

Could someone please assist me?

You don't mention your distro, your version of samba, etc... so it's a little difficult other than a guess.

Enable WINS support on your samba server, see what happens.

Hello Jon,

Firstly, thank you for your assistance.

LAN;
1) Windows 2000 Pro,
2) Windows XP Pro,
3) Linux Fedora Core 2;
Samba 3.0

As it stand WINS support is enabled.

When Windows is rebooted I can see the Linux shares from windows; it is the Windows shares that cannot be seen from Linux (it also seems as if some of Linux hangs).

Hope this info sheds some light.
