want openLDAP on RH9 from source, but have preinstalled RPM
Hi all,
I am trying to venture into the world of LDAP, wish me luck. I would like to go through the procedure of installing the latest stable version of openLDAP 2.2.15, but I have version 2.0.27-8 that was installed via RPM when I installed the operating system.
If I try to remove it via the rpm -e command I get a list of dependencies. How can I go about getting rid of the old rpm version and install openLDAP from source without breaking my system?
On an aside, I have been thinking about going up to Fedora Core 2 and dropping my RedHat 9 systems. I work in an office where I currently run 4 RH9 systems to perform various tasks, firewall, samba, apache, ... and wonder how difficult of a transition it would be.
Thanks
