VSFTPD /var/www

Hello All,

I did some searhcing on this one but was unable to make much progress...

I want to be able ftp web changes (via dreamweaver) to my webserver. I specify myself as the ftp user/pass, I get my home directory (/home/mike) and am able to navigate out of that location using my FTP client.

Should I create a new account (www_user) and give it access to write to /var/www/html? What is the best way to handle it? Can I somegive myself access to /var/www? I realize I can change the owner to me, but is that the correct way to handle it?

Thanks for any input..

what i did for a webserver was installing proftpd ftp server. users were in a mysql database they had access to folders like /var/www/homedir where homedir could be anything else, and so could be /var/www.
