vsftpd on RH4 - starting it gives 500 OOPS: could not bind listening IPv4 socket

/usr/sbin/vsftpd

Most of my google searches have recommendation to check if something is binded to port 21 - or to check if there's a FTP server running. How do I check these?

thanks

To see if FTP is running try the command "ps aux" (no quotes). If there are more items than there is screen space try "ps aux |more" (no quotes).

Hope this helps let us know how it goes.
