VPN Slackware

Hello!
I have some problems with VPN client for Slackware and I am not sure for the right solution.
I just change the ISP and the new one is on VPN. The ISP uses MSCHAP v2 . I found that I need to install kernel patch for MPPE (M$ point-to-point encryption) and support for MPPE in pppd.
On https://sourceforge.net/project/show...group_id=44827 i think i found these. Can anyone tell me what does mean *-srt.tgz - is this a package or a source. And if it is a source is there a package in .tgz or I have compulsory to compile the source. ( compilation from source uses the linux kernel for any reason, but I did rm -r on /usr/src and I have no MBs needed on my HDD and I have to resize my partition) . My kernel is 2.4.22. And why this is so big - I have found .rpm-s only 200-300 KB ?
Thank you in advance!

this is readme from packge. regular source code
"2004-May-30

This package contains PPP MPPE kernel modules for 2.6.6ish kernels,
based on the CVS repository at pserver.samba.org.
It was built into a DKMSified package by Matt Domsch.

patches/ contains several patch files, only some of which are used by
this dkms build.

linux-2.6.2-include.patch
- not used directly, but ppp-comp-local.h is the contents of this
patch.

linux-2.6.2-make.patch
- not used directly, but its interesting lines are in Makefile now.

linux-2.6.2-pad.patch
- used directly, fixes up ppp_generic.c for MPPE.

The following patches were added by Matt to simplify the build:

02-ppp_generic.c.patch
- include ppp-comp-local.h

03-ppp_mppe_compress.c.patch
- include ppp-comp-local.h

04-ppp_mppe_compress.c_license.patch
- Change module license from "BSD without advertising clause" to "Dual
BSD/GPL", as is permitted and recommended when merging BSD-licensed
code into the GPL-licensed kernel.

TODO:
* replace sha1 and arc4 implementations with those provided by the
kernel crypto library.":) :)

So my kernel is 2.4.22 and don't have to use these paches do I?
Is there a patches for my kernel?

Tihi 01-13-2005 03:51 AM

OK
I got support in pppd now. But I did not found anythink for patching kernel for MPPE support. I changed a my kernel. Now I am with Slackware 10.0 kernel 2.4.26. Can anyone post a link with patch for 2.4.26 for MPPE support. After patching I must recompile the kernel with the new option in NETWORING OPTIONS.
Thank you!
