volume control
Is there a away in two audio programs that are running at the same time for me to adjust the output volume in both the programs indivudually without them adjusting the master volume in the audio mixer. (I'm running kde 3.5).
Basically i want one programs output volume to be 30% while the other's output volume to be 80%. And the same with "mute" as well. As if you mute the volume for one program, it mutes the output volume of any other program running at the time. Thanks in advance. |
Some programs allow for their own volume control. If so this is done within the program. e.g. amarok has it's own volume slider, as do many games and other apps. If either or both of your programs do have a volume setting of their own, it will be accesses through th interface (or config file) of that program.

so does that mean the programs that adjust the master volume control (ie the PCM in kmix) like xmms and gxine, cannot control the output volume within?

On the subject of xine, amarok uses xine, and it has it's own volume control which doesn't affect the PCM or master settings, so it must be possible with xine-lib to do this. Whether or not that possibility is used in the gxine front end I don't know.
xmms has an option to use it's own volume control. Go to Code:
