VNC help

I have vnc server on a gentoo linux box, and the vnc viewer on my windows box. I can log in just fine and see my kde. I am using x0vncserver. But when i type lets say "hi" i get "hhii" it prints every letter twice. On the actual linux side i see the letters twice also. If i delete one of the two letters the other remains, so it looks like its not a display problem.
thanks for the help
