VMwarre workstation not working in BackTrack

We are using backtrack at my school and we normally use VMware for our virtual macines (nobody likes virtualbox in here for some reason i was told that it wasn't industry standard, i'm curious, are there some businesses that use virtualbox) we tried to install vmware for linux on the backtrack installation (32 bit) and we get this error prompt

what needs to be updated in order for this message to go away?

just tried to install the kernel from source (the same kernel it was running) and the headers installed well but during startup it's asking for the kernel modules and i keep getting errors wehn i try to run

# make modules
# make install_modules

what is the proper way of installing the kernel modules from source because i can't find it on the repositories and i keep getting errors when installing the new kernel from the generated .deb files
