vmware/ xorg fullscreen problems with ati radeon 9200

I've just bought vmware workstation and tried to give it a spin... But i can't switch to fullscreen-mode. First of all, it's complaining that i haven't loaded xfree86 dga. i commented the line
#Option "omit xfree86-dga"
but it still won't switch to "svga fullscreen"-mode. Is there a problem because i'm using xorg, or because i have a ati radeon 9200 card?

question no2:
i wan't to be able to switch between a slimmed down X-instance and my usual X, so i've created a second config-file under /etc/X11. how do i use this one instead? in xfree86, you used
startx -- -xfree86config XF86Config-vmware
but this doesn't work with xorg.
